Also called "La Cité du Sel" because of its exploitation of saltworks between 1795 and 1815, the fame of Porto-Vecchio now goes beyond the borders of the island of beauty.
Its heavenly beaches and picturesque citadel are its main assets.
It is also a lively marina with many bars, restaurants and ice cream parlors which form an essential meeting point for a drink and to relax on the terrace. The city is today the first seaside resort of Corsica.
